Japanese brides are turning their traditional kimonos into modern wedding dresses, and the results are flawless!
One of Japanese’s characters would be a strong root in tradition. But something is changing when many brides in Japan are proudly turning their extremely traditional and formal kimonos called ‘Furisode’ into a western-style wedding dress. The modification is really simple; by folding the sleeves down and tying them into a preferable decorative bow at the back together with a traditional sash ‘Obi’, resulted in a modern wedding dress with a sense of traditional Japanese culture.
This extraordinary idea is derived from a wedding dress company Oriental Wasou, offering flexibilities and alternatives to Japanese women – instead of having two dresses that rarely wear, one is enough to use in different occasions.
